Sussex, Greenwood, 1825 (MABI0473)

An original extremely large antique steel engraved map in hand colour by brothers John and Christopher Greenwood. Published in London, circa 24th March, 1825.

Greenwood, Pringle and Co. were famous for their spectacular wall-sized maps that were compiled from actual surveys taken by John Greenwood (fl 1821-1840). His brother Christopher Greenwood (1786-1855) then compiled and published the maps. Also, distinctive of their style was the inclusion of the principle Cathedral of each county, beautifully engraved in the corner of the map. These are scarce items to be found in such good condition.
