About Us

Welcome To King's Court Galleries

We are a family run business, who have been buying and selling antique maps and prints since 1983. Over the years we have built a knowledge of the subject that only comes from years of handling and dealing with antique engravings.

Our first shop was in Dorking, Surrey. It was situated in the Courtyard of an old Coaching Inn in the market town of Dorking. The Inn was called "The Olde King's Head Court" which inspired our name. After a few years we moved into Dorking’s thriving antique Quarter called West Street. The move provided us with a more prominent position on a beautiful old street, and lots of walls to show off our collection. Dorking sits in the valley of three Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, with many independent shops, cafes and restaurants, and is definitely worth a visit.

Our Fulham Road, London Shop was opened more than twenty years ago, and also provides our Framing Workshop. Our Fulham Branch has fantastic large windows that run from 949-953 Fulham Road, and benefits from very high ceilings. We love to change our window displays regularly. We also have a dedicated Map department. We are close to Putney Bridge and the River Thames and there is metered parking on the roads around the shop.

Our Framing Service has run alongside our shop since we began. The workshop has been onsite since we opened our Fulham Branch. The choice of frame and making of bespoke picture frames requires understanding of aesthetic, structural and conservation needs. Our experience allows us to cater for these requirements and give the customer creative ideas that suit their own style.

Take a moment to explore our extensive range of antique maps and prints. Our antique maps cover every part of the world, dating in some cases back to the 16th Century. You can own a piece of history when you purchase one of King’s Court Galleries’ high quality vintage maps, whether you choose one of our popular city maps, or celestial maps featuring star charts and the zodiac.

We have a huge stock of original vintage maps, antique prints, and framed artwork, dating back to the 16th Century. Our maps and prints cover European Exploration, the British Empire, and through to Dickensian London.

Our antique maps not only create a feature for your home, but also offer an insight into travel and art of various decades and geographical locations. Our maps are from around the world, including works from the Middle East, Australia, Africa, and the British Isles, including large maps of London. Similarly, our antique prints offer a wide range of vintage art and wall décor, featuring bold military prints, natural history illustrations, and scenic views of major cities and landscapes across the world.

Over the centuries, engraved prints and antique maps were created to represent new discoveries in technology, travel and science. The results of this produced some of the most beautiful, thought-provoking art that stands the test of time today. We display our huge range of antique maps and vintage wall art throughout our two showrooms, located in London and Surrey. Visit us today, or enquire online for more information about any of our vintage maps and prints.

Even after more than 30 years’ experience in the antique map and print business, we still find pieces that astound us, and continue to have a passion for what we do. We’re excited to share new findings with our loyal customers, and enjoy finding new examples of stunning prints and intricate antique maps.

If you’re looking for framed artwork for your home, you’ve come to the right place.
