Jazz 06, Matisse, 1966

This beautiful vintage lithograph print is from a folio edition of ‘Jazz’ printed in 1966.

‘Jazz’ was originally published in Paris in 1947. It was complete by Henri Matisse whilst he was confined to his bed and limited to using collages to create art, Matisse called them 'drawings with scissors’.

Matisse, a French artist regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, is known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship.
